When I was in high school I worked at a local pizza shop for 18
months. 2 weeks before I left for college I put in my notice, telling
them I wouldn’t be back for any vacations or the following summer.

On my last day at the pizza shop, the owner (who had spent tens of
thousands of dollars on her own multiple plastic surgeries), quite
proudly informed me that she had given me a $0.25 raise and I can
expect to start seeing it in my next paycheck.
