I worked for a large investment firm in NYC and my manager was the VP
of the department. One day, she asked me to run a personal errand for
her, which was not uncommon. She gave me her credit card and sent me
to Carnegie Hall to purchase tickets for an upcoming show. The
tickets were approx. $1,000 in total, and when I gave them the credit
card to pay for it, they asked me for ID. Since it wasn’t my card,
obviously I could not provide ID. They took me to the security office
and, lucky for me, they allowed me to call my boss. They said if she
could come down with ID, they wouldn’t have me arrested. I called my
boss and explained to her what happened, and she said she’d come
down. I sat there for FOUR hours, and when she finally came, she
didn’t even apologize to me! She was an evil, ugly woman who ended
up marrying a total mooch who sucked her dry and made her pay for
her own engagement ring. She got what she deserved.
So you got paid for 4 hours to sit around and do nothing. I don’t understand the problem here.
I’m betting the threat of arrest if the boss didn’t show was the problem.
I don’t know about you, Chris, but if I called my boss and told her that I was about to be arrested for credit card fraud because she couldn’t run her own damn errands or just call the box office to purchase tickets herself, and said boss took four hours to arrive and vindicate me, I’d be pretty pissed, too. Also—and this may come as a surprise to you—some people don’t like to sit around and do nothing at work. Surely the boss could have postponed a meeting or put something else off to take a 20 minute cab ride to clear up the misunderstanding.
She showed. No harm no foul right.
So when you said you didn’t have an I.D. they immediately took you in to the security office and threatened arrest? Why wouldn’t they just refuse to sell you the ticket? That sounds a little extreme to me.
Of course Chris wouldn’t know what the problem is because he doesn’t know what common courtesy is.
Chris, Your an Idiot!!!
I’m an idiot. How bout this person who thinks that in 2010 you can use another persons credit card for anything. especially a 1G purchase in NYC of all places. Identity theft isn’t a huge problem or anything. Ive had people tell me to just use they’re card and i say no it won’t work im not you. You know why because I’m not an idiot. That wouldn’t fly at a gas station let alone Carnagie Hall, and besides everyone knows the only way to get to Carnegie Hall is practice. ha
Chris, are you actually sitting at work while you do all of this commenting? Curious.
I’m starting to wonder if ‘chris’ could be the boss in question here??
Joe…Yeah i mess around online at work. I’m a tattooer and if im not busy tattooing painting or drawing i go online. Oh and I own the shop too.
Who’s the damn idiot who thinks they won’t be asked for ID when they want to make a purchase of $1,000? O_o
A bit silly to just think a credit card would work despite not being the owner of said card. Did you inform your boss that you won’t be able to make the transaction yourself? Couldn’t she do it online?
Part of being a good employee is to communicate. Mindlessly following orders then blaming your superior for the same mistake you made is hypocricy. You’re both to blame but don’t try to shift the bull.
this isn’t funny man…and your not the creators of peopleofwalmart either
Chris you speak the truth! Dont let these people tell you any different! It was moronic to try to make a G purchase using someone else’s card in the first place
I’ve made purchases of over $500 with others credit cards (with permission) and have only been ID’d once after signing for the purchase. I’ve also only been ID’d one or two times since I’ve had my own card (about two years).
