This guy wasn’t my boss, thank goodness! He’s an attorney at a firm I
worked for who needs a LOT of hand holding and babysitting. Everyone
knows because his assistant sits outside of his office and he almost
always yells his request at her from his desk. One day in particular,
we all heard him ask her to pull such-and-such file for him to look
at. She pulled it and took it to him; she goes back to her desk and
this is what we heard:
Boss: “When were you going to bring me that file I asked for?!?!?!?”
Secretary: “It’s in your lap!”
Boss: “Oh.”
Priceless!

Sounds a lot like a lawyer I worked for not too long ago. I used to call him ‘the fence’ because he ran around a lot and went nowhere.
That sounds exactly like my boss, an overworked director. Every day is a crisis, and if I’m not there to “keep him honest” (his code phrase for babysitting/hand-holding) there is full-out chaos.
Strangely enough, I don’t mind it. The fact that he fully acknowledges and appreciates what I do makes all the difference in the world.
Um…lol, I hope she didn’t put it in his lap. That would just be weird.
