I work at an up-scale women’s retail store. I’m greeting and working
with several customers while the boss is reading the USA Today at the
cash register counter. She looks up from the sports section and states
very loud “You can’t have your 15 minute break tonight because we are
too busy.” She returns to reading the newspaper while we still have
customers in the store.
That boss is still there. I’m asking for a transfer to another
store.

Customers notice stuff like that. Not all customers will be sympathetic to the overworked employee, but they WILL see the boss (viewed as just another employee) reading the paper when she could be waiting on them. A customer might see that, walk out of the store and never return. I’m sure I would.
When I am in a store and notice things like that I go up to the boss and say you can help me so that your employee can take a break. Thank god I like my manager!
Report her to the labor board. She’s required by law to give you at least one 15 minute break.
Two words for ya. Video Camera.
15 minute break? I hope you didn’t get paid for that! You should thank your boss that you have a job and get back to work you lazy ass.
@ LudaCris – STFU, idiot.
