Remove The Y

So I worked for the smiley face store one year over the holiday as a
cashier.

I came to work after two brutal finals and my brain was fried.
Somehow my drawer was short so they wrote me up, a part of the write
up was to say what I was going to do so that it didn’t happen again.
I wrote I would not be so cocky next time, I was told that it was
inappropriate to write the word cocky because if you take off the y
then it’s an offensive word.

I was happy when my six weeks of hell were up.

  1. Yes, removing the ‘y’ would make it an offensive word but saying the word “cocky” in a report at work was completely inappropriate. Nothing wrong by management here. You do seem a big arrogant.

  3. Maybe they’d have been happier if you’d written ‘penis-y.’

Frankly, most smiley-face-store managers seem to be Richard Craniums (Cranii?)

  7. Shocker! You just got (Manager) Trolled! Seriously, make your own site – That’s my employee.

(That store) is well known for being ridiculously uptight, Bigbox stores and call centres are the worst places to work, you’re better off.

Incidentally, grocery stores should stop selling SHITake mushrooms too.

  11. Maybe “cocky” wasn’t the right word – overconfident might have had a better ring to it. The logic however is downright funny, by extension “hell-o” could be deemed offensive ;-)

  13. Stupid wrote, “You do seem a big arrogant.”

What the heck is a ‘big’ arrogant?

  15. And perhaps the greeters shouldn’t say HELLo.

  17. @Jim Bear: Well genius, it was a typo. I meant “bit”. I’m sure you knew that, though. Thanks so much for pointing out my mistake.

  21. Hey Jim Bear – I think you know what the hell he meant.

To the OP – Why did you write you wouldn’t be so cocky? What were you being cocky about?

  23. Sounds like you were a real ASSet to the company. Oops should not use that if you drop two letters you get a dirty word.

  25. Seriously….if you can’t come up with a better story than that, you should remain silent.

    Cocky….and damned dumb.

  29. Getting written up for something that was your fault and then told not to use the word “cocky” is your idea of a hellish job? That doesn’t bode well for your future employment.

  31. @ Gilda – He-haw…made me laugh!
