Well Alrighty Then!

I work at Safeway. I do not like my boss. His name is Wayne Vickery. I
work at Safeway in Edmonton. He treats the staff badly. He is arrogant
and condescending. He treats us like shit. Wayne is the laziest man
ever. He does not care about this store or his employees. It is a very
bad scene here. He is not a man of integrity.

  1. Some examples may have been useful.

  3. This is written in the style of a first grader. “See my boss. I hate my boss. My boss is bad. See my bad boss. See me hate my bad boss.”

  5. Very smart op to tell us your actual store name, location and your boss name. Did you, use common sense? I hope your boss reads the story and fired your dumbass..

  7. Dan, did you write this? You’ve been trashing me on other forums, too. Don’t think I haven’t noticed. Yes, I was once indeed a “lowly produce clerk” (as you mentioned on, but now I’m the store manager. Come see me as soon as possible. We have some things to talk about.

  9. The OP should be commended for being short and to the point and calling his rat-bastard boss out by name. Winner!

  10. urbanpossum on September 10th, 2012
  11. total win.

And since the OP didn’t give THEIR name, discovering who submitted this will be very difficult, time consuming, and costly.
(unless the dumbass sent it in from a computer at the safeway.)

See op. See op go to work. See OP become frustrated.
See op take out frustration by sending this story via work computer.
See OP look for new job.

  13. i guess the op will be getting fired when wayne finds out about this. haha…total win and a total fail at the same time.

  15. Pros:
    –Short and to-the-point.
–Naming your boss and your store is a poor idea, unless you either plan to or want to get fired. And a few concisely-written examples would’ve been nice, though only if you left out the names, or it’d make Wayne’s job of finding you even easier.
Perhaps the OP is sick of the the boss and, rather than deal with the jerk while he hunts for a new job or quit and have no income while he hunts, wants to be fired so he can have income while he searches for something better. For the sake of being kind, if this guess is true, I’ll give OP some credit.
Another possible – unlikely, but possible – scenario: OP got caught breaking a big rule by employees a while back (stealing? padding time cards?), got reported, and was fired. He wants revenge, so he posted this in hopes that his boss will find it, think one of those employees is responsible, and fire ‘em.
Yet another: The OP never worked for a Safeway in Edmonton. This is an extreme version of a prank call, hoping some random employee will get blamed and fired. Not funny.

I hope it’s the first of those three. ‘Cuz if this story is nothing more than its face value, bravo to you OP for being this ballsy, but expect to get canned pretty quick.

  17. Google tells me someone whined about Wayne Vickery elsewhere, including on pages where the conversation was simply about other stuff in Edmonton; this was apparently at a store in Bonny Doon, specifically. On one page, there’s a reply saying that Wayne got transferred to some other store and the poster is getting along fine with the remaining managers.

  18. Zephyr Skunk on September 10th, 2012
  19. Found a fairly good post; in short, the poster gives examples that Mr. Vickery failed to hire enough employees to do the required work, and never got around to anything unless ordered by someone above him. He also adds that he has “respect for managers,” “they have a hard job,” his issue was only with this particular one. Dunno why OP gave details elsewhere but not here.

  21. i think its good that this story teller isn’t too pussy to give the bosses name. and zephyr skunk, write a book why dont ya?

  22. joachim on September 10th, 2012
  23. joachim you got a good point…we have enough pussies around here…good thing this op wasnt one of them…but if the op was really bad ass, the op would have provided his/her name as well….

…i think im ready for another vacation. i need some suggestions. i wanna go some place ive never been.

  25. Having worked for Safeway before I can say there is a reason it is called Slaveway by employees who are not management.

It is not uncommon for stores to be short staffed or schedules to be altered at the last minute accommodate manager bonuses that do not get spread down the line.

  30. someone on September 10th, 2012
  31. that leaves Ireland out. Ireland’s a lot of fun in october, especially toward halloween, but… warm and tropical it’s not.

  33. Quick google search shows Wayne’s reputation.

    Someone, go to Belize

  34. T-Rex on September 10th, 2012
  35. Wayne’s reputation was probably given to him on all of those sites by the same person who wrote this. Sounds almost identical.

  36. stupid on September 10th, 2012
  37. rexxxy, ive been there before but as a kid with my parents…i dont remember much about it except for sitting on the beach a lot and also exploring the ruins…that might be a good idea…i just gotta see if some of the girls can/wanna go….and then i gotta get a resort

  38. someone on September 10th, 2012

  43. I suspected that might be the case: someone had a grudge and did some spamming. But having found the, “He got transferred and I get along with all the remaining managers just fine, I respect them ‘cuz they have difficult jobs sometimes” post makes me more inclined to call this real. I suppose we’ll never know unless the OP drops in.

  44. Zephyr Skunk on September 10th, 2012
  45. I have worked at Safeway. The managers were pretty horrible. I understand the frustration of OP. I cannot believe that the actual manager in question would be foolish enough to respond to the post however. Bad managers always seem to care more about their ego than their employees.

  47. The Oxford Comma reminds me of my English teacher. He was a pretentious twit would post silly comments on silly sites like this. I hope that was grammatically correct.

  48. Edward on September 11th, 2012
  49. I am so sorry. I was not grammatically correct. I meant to say “he was a pretentious twit who would post silly comments on silly sites like these.” Where is the great Oxford Comma when you need Him?

  50. Edward on September 11th, 2012
  51. Hey, look. Wayne Vickery was the 4th person to comment. Hahaha, Dan is getting in trouble!

  52. stupid on September 11th, 2012
  53. I cann’t believe the mod would publish this with the name of the boss. That should be removed. The stories on the site are fun, but privacy should be respected. Epic FAIL for

  54. Fail on September 11th, 2012
  55. i hope your boss reads this. there will now be no question its about him either…..which seems like bad mojo. people dont say names for a good reason
